  • What is MLD

    This style of massage is used to help stimulate and assist the lymphatic system.

    The lymphatic system is the frontline in our bodies’ ability to fight disease and infection by localising foreign bodies.

    At times this system can become compromised, and congestion and stagnation may occur.

    Daily stress, fatigue, chemical overloading, infection, pollution, food preservatives and many other things can greatly impair the functioning of healthy tissues and healthy lymphatic pathways.

    Manual lymphatic Drainage aims to stimulates fluid circulation,, assisting our bodies with detoxification. It encourages the lymphatic system to absorb and transport lymph more effectively, so that our bodies can function at its best.

    MLD is used to stimulate the lymphatic system and lymph nodes, helping to pump the stagnant lymphatic fluid back around the body.

    It is not a It is not a muscular massage.
    This type of massage is extremely light and delicate. Heavy pressure is not needed due to the lymphatic system being located at the very surface of the skin.

    During your consultation, your therapist will explain in detail how the massage will be applied corresponding to your needs.

  • What Are the Effects of MLD

    MLD can be used in many applications and has a profound effect on increasing lymphatic flow.

    With an in-crease of lymph flow immune function is increased. Harmful substances are removed from the tissues and neutralized in the nodes.

    Here are a few situations that arise where lymph drainage can be beneficial:

    • Anyone prone to, or recovering from, an infection, illness, or a weakened immune system

    • Those experiencing ongoing fatigue

    • Those with excess fluid pooling in the body

    • Post-cancer patients (if lymph nodes have been removed)

    • Anyone with auto-immune conditions and/or chronic pain

    • Post-surgery

    • Recovering from sporting injuries

    • Oedema during pregnancy (with medical clearance)
